New Study on the Prevalence of Deafblindness in the Netherlands to Start Soon

We are proud to announce that our research group has recently been awarded funding for an important new project: mapping the prevalence of deafblindness in the Netherlands. The study, which will commence on April 1st, will be carried out by Esther Veenman, under the supervision of Ellen Elsman and Ruth van Nispen.

Deafblindness is a complex condition that severely impacts the daily lives of many people, yet the exact number of individuals affected in the Netherlands remains unknown. In addition, through future scenario analyses, we will make projections for the prevalence of deafblindness up to the year 2050. This research will provide essential insights that will contribute to improving care and support for people with deafblindness in the Netherlands. We look forward to taking this important step toward enhancing the quality of life for this group.
