Esther Veenman

PhD candidate

Esther Veenman studied psychology at the University of Amsterdam and the University of Groningen, and graduated in 2019. In 2020, she started her PhD project: ‘Gaining insight into dual sensory loss’. This project focuses on people with both a visual and auditory impairment and aims to examine how vision and hearing work together.

What makes doing research interesting and challenging for her?

Esther likes to learn new things, and this PhD project is a perfect fit, because little is known about dual sensory loss. The complexity of dual sensory loss is challenging, in a positive way! In addition, she believes it is valuable that professionals with different areas of expertise and people with dual sensory loss play an advisory role in this project.
